The Day I Was In The Newspaper

June 3rd 2010.
For my A level project I designed and constructed four separate garments from recycled fabrics.
(from left to right) Claire Robinson modelling light pink classic tube dress made from an old bridesmaids dress. Rachael Westmorland modelling flower skirt made from a piece if scrap fabric from the art room and "Peter Pan" blouse made from a bedsheet, Sophie Coggins modelling 'The Bikini Dress' made from her own pair of curtains and finally me in the corner. The total cost of these garments were £13.00 to make the lot.

The 4 Week Project.

Well... the 4 week project has took off.. starting with my first repeat pattern it has been a challenge but I have managed it. The Gum Arabic didnt like my fabric so it has to be masking taped down which was time consuming so.. it has took me 2 hours to lay it out and 20 minutes to print the first row.
Nice and Taut.
First Row. First Layer.

Looking In Wonderland

Today I went to see the original illustrations of 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass' by Sir John Tenniel... it was actually amazing to see that they printed using carved wooden blocks.. they must of had patience I can't even stick at a lino print.

My Lucienne Day Piece

This is my take on Lucienne Day's Leaves Piece, I have took her pattern design and replaced the leaves with windows. I used markell oils for a subtle effect for the background shapes and then sewn on fabric which I mono printed my windows onto.
